Job Description

SUMMARY

The Business Development Manager is responsible for generating sales by developing OEM direct business. The role requires time and territory management for maximizing effectiveness with customers, strategic planning for development of key accounts and industries in the territory and generating quotes and orders for AST Bearings LLC.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. 

  • Develops target OEM list focusing on accounts and industries
  • Manages key customer relationships for OEM accounts
  • Identify and close new business opportunities for bearings and bearing related products
  • Determine price, delivery and product performance based on customer requirements
  • Maximize sales revenue for designated accounts by growing sales within existing accounts, expanding customer contacts, identify and developing new sales opportunities.
  • Work closely with engineering to increase sales with AST’s and Shuster branded products.
  • Identify and sell AST’s value-added services and capabilities
  • Monitors customer, market and competitor activity and provide feedback to management team
  • Works alongside with engineering to determine best-fit products and solutions to support customer requirements
  • Assists Engineering to develop customer training on products and applications
  • Other duties as required

Selling – Represents AST Bearings professionally, uses effective negotiation skills, demonstrates good

relationship building, and exhibits the ability to extract information from sources.

Interpersonal – Has ability to work within all levels of the business, from senior management on through the organization. Focuses on resolving conflict, rather than assigning blame; maintains confidentiality; listens to others without interrupting; keeps emotions under control; remains open to others' ideas, embraces change and is open to new ideas.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Four-year degree is preferred, minimum of 5 years sales management experience within the Bearing and Power Transmission business.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

This position will require travel 75% of the time, working with customers to identify market needs and communicate them effectively throughout the organization.
