Service Technician

Under appropriate supervision, the Electrical Assembler / Technician will produce electrical control panels and other various electro-mechanical assemblies using small hand tools such as screwdrivers, wire strippers, and crimpers.  They will install and wire components using drawings, procedures, specifications, and written standards.  The products they produce are expected to achieve the highest quality standards.

Performs any combination of the following tasks to assemble electronic components, subassemblies, products, or systems.

• Reads work orders, electrical schematics, mechanical and production drawings, sample assemblies, wire lists, or receives verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.
• Connects wires between individual component leads and other components, connectors, terminals, and contact points. Cuts wire to specified lengths and routes, combs, twists, wraps, ties, and attaches wire to terminal points.
• Positions and aligns parts in specified relationship to each other using mechanical drawings and layouts.
• Mounts assembled control components, such as transformers, control relays, circuit breakers, drives, power supplies, on chassis panel using crimps, screws, bolts, rivets, solder, or perform similar operations to join or secure parts in place, using hand tools, power tools, and automation equipment.
• Installs finished assemblies or subassemblies in cases and cabinets.
• Assembles and attaches hardware, such as caps, clamps, knobs, and switches, to electrical control assemblies.
• Performs in production inspection, conducts functional and continuity tests of electrical assemblies, components, wire harness, and plugs, using an ohmmeter, test lights, and other electrical testing instruments to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or GED.
• 0-3 years’ experience with industrial electrical control panel assembly.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

• Read, understand, and follow assembly procedures.
• Operate hand tools such as crimpers, wire strippers, screwdrivers, tape measures, wrenches, and torque wrenches.
• Electrical and mechanical aptitude.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Experience building electro-mechanical panels and assemblies.
• Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical assemblies experience beneficial.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Light physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials up to 25Lbs.
• Regularly required to sit or stand, bend, kneel and reach.
• Perform repetitive to non-repetitive assembly tasks constantly using hands and arms.
• Work above or below shoulder height for extended periods of time.

COMPENSATION:

$20.68 to $26.90 per hour.
