The Inventory Manager is responsible for driving immediate, action-oriented improvements in inventory operations across all New Zealand branches. This role focuses on implementing actions and measures to optimize stock levels, ensure compliance with group inventory principles, and deliver measurable results in improving stock turns and reducing dead stock.

What kind of work may be involved?

  • Execute initiatives to optimise stock levels, ensuring availability meets current customer needs while reducing overstock and inefficiencies.
  • Prioritise and action quick-win opportunities for improving inventory turnover across branches, working collaboratively with Regional Operation Managers.
  • Implement targeted actions to identify and reduce dead stock across branches, including redistributing or clearing aged inventory.
  • Track key performance metrics (e.g., stock turns, aged stock levels, and order fill rates) daily or weekly to drive real-time decision-making.
  • Provide concise, action-based reports on inventory performance, emphasizing stock turn improvements and dead stock resolutions.
  • Provide clear guidance to branch teams regarding inventory standards and take swift corrective action for non-compliance.

Ideal skills & experience:

  • Proven experience in team leadership and people development
  • Experience in inventory operations and management, with a proven ability to deliver immediate operational improvements.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control practices, compliance requirements, and stock optimization techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results in time-sensitive, fast-paced environments.
  • Natural problem-solving skills, a curious mind, comfortable working with blue collar, construction & industrial stakeholders.
  • Team player attitude.
