Job Description

Supervisor, EHS Safety

SUMMARY:

Under limited supervision, the Safety Supervisor collaborates with the EHS Manager and other EHS Team Members to establish, administer, and enforce effective and appropriate safety awareness and incentive programs for Motion employees.

JOB DUTIES

  • Develops and support a culture that proactively engages in anticipating and preventing injuries and illnesses in the workplace.

  • Provides health & safety support and direction to all levels of the organization.

  • Acts as a technical resource to help maintain specific programs and ensure compliance in areas such as: OSHA, MSHA, EPA, Federal/State/Local Health Departments, etc.

  • Generates and distribute monthly safety meeting topics and supporting documentation to managers.

  • Conducts Safety Post-Incident Reviews; work with HR Managers to determine appropriate CAP including disciplinary action based on Company policy.

  • Reports fatalities and applicable work-related injuries and illnesses to OSHA, state and county Health Departments, etc.

  • Works directly with third party, risk management vendor to schedule audits/reaudits, resolve online access issues, answer questions posed by management about audits, Corrective Action Plans (CAPs), etc.;  may assist Compensation Team with Safety Bonus administration.

  • Assists EHS Manager with all Company safety matters including, but not limited to: Safety Toolbox implementation, tracking and reducing injury/incident rates, on-site visits and virtual meetings with management and employees regarding injuries, compliance with regulatory and company safety requirements, minimize safety liability and risk.

  • Monitors and revises safety documents.

  • Assists EHS Manager with reviewing training modules.

  • Facilitates DISA (Defense Information Systems Agency) on demand and random drug tests and background checks.

  • Assists in the preparation, distribution, and communication of safety metrics and reports, including injury trend analysis, safety and loss prevention audit results, worker’s compensation and vehicle damage costs.

  • Maintains access the claims reporting system and levels of communication with claims adjusters.

  • Attends case review meetings with Motion EHS Team, WC adjusters, GPC Risk Management, insurance brokers, etc. and provide status updates as needed.

  • Gathers information to initiate claims process for work-related injuries and deaths, refers injured worker for medical care, nurse triage, and/or post-accident drug testing as needed/required reports work-related injuries, assists in preparation and distribution of OSHA Logs.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Typically requires a bachelor's degree and five (5) or more years of related experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or warehouse supervisory environment or the equivalent combination.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, making appropriate decisions based upon knowledge, proper investigation, facts, consistency, fairness, and sound judgment.

  • Ability to implement local, state, and federal Health and Safety laws and other government compliance regulations.

  • High level of interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interact with all levels within the organization as well as outside with various vendors and providers.

  • Highly organized, with ability to process incident details in an effective manner.

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple assignments effectively manage deadlines and meet objectives.

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills required with the ability to successfully interact at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to use good judgment and discretion.

  • A sense of urgency, accuracy, and timeliness.

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of time.

BUDGET RESPONSIBILITY: No
