Job Description

Motion Canada is currently recruiting for a Electrical/Pneumatic Specialist to provide technical support for workshops and Motion branch locations within the division as well as liaise and provide engineering support between customer service representatives, sales representatives and customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for workshops and Motion branch locations within the division.
  • Work in a team environment to bring multi-discipline, complex projects from concept to completion
  • Prepare project drawings, documentation, and manuals
  • Effectively select and apply PLC’s, motion controllers, VFD’s, servo drives and related components to various industrial applications
  • Assist in the design, assembly and testing of industrial control panels, maintaining high standards of workmanship and commitment to quality.
  • Demonstrate a familiarity with various brands of electrical components
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of word processing, spread sheet, presentation, and AutoCAD software
  • Provide programming experience for various brands/types of logic and motion controllers
  • Assisting in the installation, start-up, commissioning, and troubleshooting of the process control system including correcting problems with field process variables, or design engineering in heavy industrial environments
  • May act as lead and provide direction to less experienced staff
  • Participate in identifying target markets for sales of electrical products - Work effectively with manufacturers to identify and execute mutual sales opportunities
  • Provide and facilitate technical training for sales and service personnel
  • Learn and effectively understand the application of new technologies, new products and interchangeability of existing products.
  • Liaise and provide engineering support between customer service representatives, sales representatives and customer(s)
  • Travel will be expected and can be frequent/extensive in order to provide branch support - may include travel to remote areas as well as throughout North America for training purposes
  • Project work may require the specialist to be away for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 KG - required to use appropriate safety equipment and follow safety procedures in performing assignments

  •  Must have a positive attitude and be able to work well with others in group atmosphere.
  •  Will have an aptitude for mathematics and science.
  •  Ability to work effectively with minimal direct supervision
  •  Should enjoy working in a challenging environment that test ones skills
  •  Must have the analytical ability to read and interpret plans and diagrams, trouble shoot circuits,  and test materials and products.
  • Should have experience operating hand and power tools
  • Must be self motivated to continually better one self through training
  • Must have good communication skills both orally and written.
  • Will enjoy working with computers, and electrical equipment that require methodical trouble shooting to find innovative solutions to problems that arise.
  •  Required to be able to lift up to 20 KG
  • Is required to use appropriate safety equipment and follow safety procedures in performing assignments
  • Travel: Will be expected and can be Frequent / extensive.
  • Travel is required to provide support at any branch location within the division.
  • From time to time, project work will require the specialist to be away for extended periods of time.
  • Travel is required throughout North America for training purposes.

Qualifications:

  • B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering OR College Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology OR similar experience and at least 5 years relevant industry experience
