PowerBI Engineer Level III
Motion Industries is seeking a PowerBI Engineer to provide advanced expertise on various projects and support requests focused on administration, configuration, user support, and developer best practices training for business intelligence and analytics platforms with a specialization in Power BI.

Responsibilities
Administrate and monitor the Power BI platform providing a stable production environment that meets performance needs
Collaborating with team members, plan and manage Power BI system implementations, upgrades, security, auditing, configuration, and future/additional product evaluations and improvements as needed
Provide Microsoft Power BI Platform capacity planning, metrics and performance tuning recommendations and implement with proper review, approval, and change management
Install and configure data gateways for access to multiple data sources as needed
Manage Power BI tenant and capacity settings and understand impact to environment before applying changes via change management
Perform regularly scheduled maintenance on terminal and gateway servers including patching and software upgrades
Proactively assess the latest Microsoft Power BI Service, gateway, and desktop releases, assess impact to environments, and act as needed
Serves as an escalation point for production and/or platform issues and acts as lead liaison with Microsoft Technical Support to resolve outstanding issues within the Microsoft Power BI environments
Provide on-call support and provide direction to other IT department on-call resources as it relates to Power BI
Define and document application best practices, required standards, processes, and guidelines regarding the use and administration of the BI tools
Ensure the platform is following IT policies and standards and agreed upon service levels
Serve as a Microsoft Power BI subject matter expert by proactively developing, coordinating, and providing on-going training, functional, and technical direction to the super-users (content developers) to enable a self-service environment. Standardize the development process for the content developers.
Communicate status of production issues (describing issue, resolution, and status) with both the business and the Business Intelligence team in a timely manner
Strong understanding of the SDLC process and project management steps used in delivering IT solutions
Advanced knowledge of information technology systems, infrastructure, and operations
Knowledge of security methodologies, policies, standards, and best practices including knowledge of firewall rules, Active Directory, row-level security application in Power BI Desktop and Service
Thorough understanding of Microsoft Power BI products and licensing and how they work together in an environment
Extensive knowledge connecting to various data sources including, but not limited to, via the gateway and cloud data sources
Advanced knowledge in troubleshooting Microsoft Power BI Platform and client issues to root cause
Advanced knowledge of report development, data modeling, and administration processes in Power BI
Strong SQL and database technology and design concepts including relational database structures, star schema structures, models, and diagrams.
Ability to understand, develop, and maintain PowerShell scripts desired.
Experience identifying and developing metrics and KPIs required.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting deadlines and documenting progress towards delivery date
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field or equivalent work experience
3-5 years' experience designing, developing, and administering Business Intelligence applications including maintenance and support activities, performance monitoring, tuning, upgrading versions, software configuration, business continuity and disaster recovery planning and general IT processes such as Change Management, Configuration Management, Problem Resolution, and Incident Tracking required
4-6 years of experience with report development, data models and administration processes in an enterprise BI reporting tool required
4-6 years of experience with Cloud environments and software (Google BigQuery, SQL Server, Informatica, etc) as well as relational and OLAP database designs required
Experience with report development, data modeling, and administration processes in Power BI preferred
Experience with PowerBI administration performing system monitoring, log analysis, performance analysis, performance tuning and capacity planning
Experience working in SAFe Agile environment a plus
