Network Systems Specialist III

SUMMARY:

Under limited supervision, the Network Systems Administrator I install, configures, and maintains Motion's (LANs), (WANs), data communication networks, operating systems, and servers.

JOB DUTIES

• Independently diagnoses, designs, and implements network communications and solution improvements to varied problems that may have unusual circumstances.
• Proposes and implements system enhancements (software and hardware updates) by adapting existing approaches.
• Manages the load configuration of a central data communication processor and works with other parts of the IT organization to make recommendations for purchase or upgrade of data networks.
• Coordinates terminal orders and cable installation and advises other team members in network system planning, upgrading, monitoring, testing, and servicing.
• Approves action requests and specifies purchase requirement.
• Exercises discretion when negotiating and placing orders with common and uncommon carriers.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Typically requires a bachelor’s degree and five (5 or more years of related experience or equivalent experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

• Strong knowledge of appropriate networks, products and protocols, systems, design, etc.
• General knowledge of Unix, Windows NT/2000/98, Internet Security, Oracle ERP.
• Knowledge of job associated database/software/documentation/programming languages.
• Possesses strong working knowledge of business needs; ability to recommend network upgrades and improvements to achieve goals and objectives.
• Demonstrated intermediate knowledge of platform operation systems (router, platforms, LAN, WAN, and router protocols) and how they interact with the network.
• Possesses and demonstrates advanced skills in collaborating with network engineers on design solutions.
• Demonstrated advanced skills, knowledge, and adherence to Change Management processes.
• Ability to create and deliver presentations to peers and leaders.
• Demonstrated strong customer service skills, interfaces well with customers, end users, partners, and associates.
