Position Purpose:
Seeking world-class talent to join the world’s leading distributor of automotive and industrial replacement parts and value-added services operating 5,500+ locations and servicing more than 20,000 locations in the U.S and Canada. Specifically, this role will function as the Staff Engineer in the Enterprise Data & Analytics (EDA) group with responsibility for acting as the platform architect of the next generation business intelligence (BI) platforms at GPC. Working with a highly talented team, you'll play a key role to build and run one of the world’s largest automotive and industrial replacement parts operations.
This is an engineering leadership role with responsibility for enabling cloud transformation and execution for GPC’s unified business intelligence (BI) platform.
This individual must be a technologist & engineer at heart and be comfortable in enabling new technology and being hands on with the execution of the strategy. She/he must exhibit a deep understanding of modern BI technology stacks and agile delivery models, demonstrated focus on customer experience, and a proven track record of modernizing technologies.
Close collaboration and alignment with the data engineering team, business functions, application development teams, and cyber security group will be required. As such, exceptional abilities in building and maintaining strong working relationships and organizational savvy will be required. High level communication and presentation skills are required. Ability to attract, retain, and develop engineering talent will be critical.
Position Responsibilities:
10% - Team & Talent:
- Partner across peers, leaders, and other domain experts to evangelize and drive thought leadership, promote innovation, and encourage collaboration across teams
- Lead through connected conversations to create a wide sphere of influence
- Link teams across the organization who are facing similar challenges to enable consistent solutions
- Coach, mentor, and advise other domain experts and engineers in the organization
- Participate in and lead learning activities within the organization
30% - Strategy & Planning:
- Build, own, and drive the architecture guidelines/standards, capabilities roadmap, capacity optimization strategies, tenant level configuration, and paved path on tooling (native and external) for the BI platform
- Define, publish, implement, and promote design patterns, key processes, governing mechanisms, controls, and support tools
- Serve as a subject matter expert and data evangelist to facilitate the alignment of analytics across the organization and best practice uses of BI platforms and enterprise data assets
- Communicate key information to stakeholders and collaborate with existing platform/product architects in the formalization and adoption of standards and procedures
60% - Delivery & Execution:
- Optimize the platform to enable BI at scale following a well-defined reference architecture, design patterns, standards, and best practices
- Build technical requirements for team engineers that ensure solutions meet operational requirements, such as scalability, maintainability, reliability, extensibility, flexibility, availability, manageability, and security
- Partner with engineering managers and analytics pods (data engineers, BI engineers, and data analysts) to architect projects from end-to-end
- Design prototypes in partnership with analytics pods, functional leaders, and other key stakeholders in the business
- Lead discussions on design and architecture on behalf of the Analytics domain and engage with other engineering teams, architects, and partners in different business units
- Provide mentorship to analytics pods, domain teams, and business stakeholders on available data assets, reporting solutions, and analytics capabilities
- Coordinate/manage technology integrations between various system and application teams
- Other duties as assigned
Location:
- GPC has two work locations to choose from, Duluth or Atlanta office.

Desired Qualifications & Experiences:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business, or four-year related degree, and/or equivalent work-related experience. MS degree preferred.
- 8 years of experience (10+ preferred) in designing, developing, testing, and implementing BI solutions using various technology stacks and BI platforms
- Expertise in Power BI administration, capabilities, features/functionality, development best practices, deployment strategies, and operations/support is required
- Strong knowledge of Agile and DevOps methodologies
- Strong problem-solving skills, project management skills, and organizational skills
- Expert knowledge of SQL, data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing
- Highly self-motivated with a strong work ethic
- Work is performed in a typical office environment
- Minimal travel required
