Job Summary
The Senior Director, People serves as a strategic partner, trusted HR advisor and impactful leader for NAPA and the People team. This role oversees the prioritization and delivery of HR solutions for the business, including people strategies, culture and belonging programs, and organizational effectiveness and design. Reporting to the SVP, People, the Senior Director, People leads a high-performing team of HR leaders that translate talent strategies into deliverables and transforms NAPA into an exceedingly engaged and effective workforce.
Responsibilities
- Partners with executives and senior business leadership to ensure short-term and long-term talent needs are met to successfully drive business strategy forward.
- Serves as subject matter expert on impactful people management, employee retention, and development programs and processes.
- Evaluates current-state organizational design; leads organizational effectiveness initiatives; advises and consults with executive leaders to create and implement organizational changes that improve operational excellence and organizational effectiveness.
- Builds and leverages relationships with cross functional teams (HQ, Compensation, Employee Relations, Talent Acquisition, Communications, etc.) to deliver on high priority projects and initiatives.
- Through a team of People professionals, oversees the development, implementation and completion of company programs, initiatives, and training across assigned areas.
- Leads the People function’s commitment to maintain strict compliance with company, federal, state, and local regulations related to employment, compensation, and safety standards and laws.
- Motivates team towards excellence in talent and performance management, employee coaching and efficient ways-of-working that result in positive outcomes throughout the employee life cycle.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration or related discipline.
- 10+ years’ experience in the HR function, delivering on enterprise-wide talent initiatives in national organization with a dynamic workforce.
- Senior SHRM or HRCI certification (SHRM-SCP or SPHR)
- 3+ years’ experience leading a high-performing team with measurable financial and operational targets.
- Demonstrated experience conducting organizational needs analysis and leading an organizational effectiveness and organizational design project for nation-wide company.
- Proven ability to deliver future-focused and best in class people strategies.
- Deep understanding of industry-standard practices, HR strategies and emerging trends
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications – Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Maintains confidential and sensitive information.
- Familiarity with laws, regulations and guidelines related to HR and state-to-state differences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree
- 12+ years’ experience
- 5+ years’ experience leading a high-performing team.
- Experience with Workday
- Experience working in a retail, operations, or distribution environments.

Physical Demands / Working Environment
- Must be able to work in a corporate office setting.
- Domestic travel estimated 50% of the time.
