Position Mission:
This position will provide subject matter expertise across supply chain engineering functions to help transform the GPC supply chain to a competitive advantage for the company. The person in this role will apply deep engineering expertise to

1) Identify and design the right supply chain for the network.

2) Design multiple-node distribution centers of the future.

3) Identify and implement capacity improvements in the existing network to support GPC supply chain growth.

The role will be responsible to develop and implement DC design solutions
across the enterprise to ensure GPC supply chain continuous improvement over time. This leader will lead design of physical systems and controls. Seamless peer alignment with process design and virtual design teams will be critical to the success of the role.


Primary Responsibilities
• Design, develop and implement innovative warehouse automation system solutions including storage systems,
material handling equipment and automation.
• Assessment of current DC Operations to identify optimization opportunities to improve flow, throughput, capacity,
productivity, and OEE
• Establishing and document engineered standards for supply chain facilities.
• Design of new logistics nodes and distribution centers encompassing site planning, processes and flows.
• Project activation including technical oversight, employee training and commissioning of all engineering project to
increase capacity, throughput, productivity, and cost reduction.
• Review and selection of new Automation partners and technologies, along with facility design
• Technical specification for all systems, automation and storage systems including facility PIT
• Flow analysis
• Bottleneck analysis
• Cycle time analysis
• Inventory slotting
• CAD drawing generation, vendor red-line reviews, and composite drawing consolidations
• Cross functional team leadership to drive alignment on design scope and deliverables
• Leadership and mentoring of junior engineers.
• Supervision of L4-L6 Design engineers
• Cross functional leadership and partnering on overall DC network design, including node type and location for key
logistics operations
• Partnership in development of new logistics nodes to support GPC supply chain
• Identification and tracking of DC capacities in throughput and cubic storage by process & product line


Professional Skills/Experience/Education
• Bachelors degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering
• 10 years of supply chain engineering experience (Distribution, Fulfillment or Manufacturing)
• Experience in developing productivity rates, labor savings analysis, engineering standards, and process
improvement
• Experience in Distribution or Fulfillment facility design
• Experience in evaluating and implementing Automation solutions
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Engineering economics, simulation modeling, and advanced data and analytics
• Experience leading small to medium size Engineering and project execution teams

Additional
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency with statistical analysis
• Experience in Value Stream Mapping
• Experience working in a performance excellence organization (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)

Data and Digital Literacy: Leverages data analysis tools to explore highly complex data, develops and tests hypotheses, uses data to influence strategic work, and builds and presents insights. Identifies, implements,
and drives technology change within scope of work. Uses visualization tools to represent data and construct coherent stories to influence decisions.

Business Acumen: Develops, evaluates, and implements proposed business cases for projects and initiatives. Influences business stakeholder decision-making. Translates business requirements into strategies, initiatives,
and projects, aligns them to business objectives, and drives the execution of deliverables. Demonstrates deep expertise of Supply Chain Distribution, Fulfillment, and Transportation. Builds and articulates the business
case and return on investment and delivers work that has demonstrable value.

Develops new, organization wide processes and ways of working.
Engineering Economics: Advises others on a variety of financial tools, techniques, and approaches. Builds multiple business cases to provide comparisons and fully realized options. Conducts and documents analyses
of a variety of financial data and cost drivers. Oversees financial analysis to evaluate automation and systems performance. Evaluates financial data and ensures return-on-investment performance according to financial
plans. Anticipates the potential impact of decisions based on financial data analysis.


Advanced Analytics: Applies data analysis and data modeling techniques to establish, modify, and maintain data structures and associated components. Utilizes designated data analysis software (both internal and external) to analyze business data. Applies specific computing languages and tools in machine learning (for example, R, Python).

Supports the identification and application of statistical techniques based on
requirements Conduct statistical experiments (for example, hypothesis tests, confidence intervals) and builds
statistical models.


Process Flow Design: Interprets information to quantify the anticipated outcome of supply chain decisions.
Can understand and perform typical tasks associated with receiving, put away, picking, and shipping product.
Can identify and understand sources of loss across the end-to-end supply chain. Describes and improves basic
logistical processes and sub processes. Uses a variety of business process design tools and techniques.
Examines, interprets, and explains workflow materials and documentation. Analyzes a process and associated
business logic and offers recommendations based on analysis. Carries out business process design.
Documents common obstacles and barriers for effective implementation.
Automation Integration: Identifies common issues and considerations for bringing a new automation design
to a facility. Works with teams to measure and manage project performance. Documents implementation
plans and estimates for projects. Documents project implementation meetings, particularly status reports on
next steps. Participates in the development of technology interfaces and bridges. Works with existing
interfaces and integration and migration plans within assigned area. Prepares integration tests. Measures and
compares results with established test criteria.


Automation System Design: Promotes the usage of automation technology. Participates in implementation
and training. Conducts cost-benefit analyses of technology. Monitors actual versus planned. Consults on the
use of advanced technology for automation of supply chain processes. Helps develop and implement long range
automation plans. Works with multi-function and automating machineries that perform multiple and
complicated tasks enabling time reduction of supply chain processes. Analyzes the feasibility, design,
strength, and performance of automation equipment. Conducts investigations into faulty machine operation,
equipment failures, and difficulties. Follows guidelines, standards, and safety procedures in the mechanical
design process. Participates in designing, testing, implementing, monitoring, and repairing mechanical
components.


Mechatronics: Creates views of objects in 2 and 3 dimensions. Creates perspective drawings and orthogonal
views. Uses design and visualization to perform basic drafting (for example, wire frames, solid objects, array
of objects). Flips and scales objects within drawings. Integrates multiple objects within the environment.
Generates specifications for parts or components with design and visualization software. Participates in
projects that modify existing electrical systems, equipment, and components. Assists in drawing circuit
diagrams and defining electrical installation specifications. Operators Programmable Logic Controllers in
order to communicate, monitor, and control automated processes (for example, assembly lines, machine
functions, robotic devices). Performs the basic design, installation, maintenance and testing of electrical
systems, equipment, and components.


Operational Excellence: Evaluates relevant industry practices from an operations perspective. Works to
resolve obstacles to goals of several organizational functions. Advises others to carry out responsibilities
based on understanding of key organizational functions. Designs awareness programs for multi- and cross functional
issues of the regulatory environment. Facilitates interrelationships between major functions and
sub functions. Recommends efficiencies in operational functions and One Best Way documentation wherever
possible. Monitors organizational compliance with policies and procedures. Facilitates communications
across departments to ensure a smooth workflow in the facility and related partner functions.

organization. Presents to and influences teams, customers, and clients, conveying complex information
