Position Purpose:
Seeking world-class talent to join the world’s leading automotive and industrial replacement parts and value-added services distributor, operating 5,500+ locations and servicing more than 20,000 locations in the U.S. and Canada. Specifically, this role will function as the Lead Cloud Engineer – Oracle Cloud of a newly formed team of engineers to build the next-generation commerce platforms at GPC. Working with a highly talented team, you'll play a key role in building and running one of the world’s largest automotive and industrial replacement parts operations.
As an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Lead Engineer, you will be at the forefront of our cloud strategy, leading the design, deployment, and management of scalable and secure OCI environments. You will provide technical leadership and expertise, ensuring that our cloud infrastructure aligns with business goals and meets high standards of performance and cost-efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) solutions.
- Define cloud strategy and architecture to align with business goals and objectives.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Architect and design scalable, secure, and high-performance OCI environments.
- Create detailed architecture diagrams, design documents, and implementation plans for OCI projects.
- Evaluate and recommend new cloud services and technologies to enhance infrastructure capabilities.
- Oversee the deployment, configuration, and management of OCI resources, including computing, storage, networking, and databases.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC) scripts using tools like Terraform to automate provisioning and configuration.
- Monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure for cost and performance.
- Conduct regular performance assessments and implement improvements to ensure efficient resource utilization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers and operations, to ensure seamless integration and operation of cloud solutions.
- Provide expert-level support and troubleshooting for complex cloud infrastructure issues.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for cloud infrastructure designs, configurations, and procedures.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops for team members and stakeholders on OCI best practices and new technologies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Location:
- GPC has two work locations to choose from: Duluth or Atlanta office.

Desired Qualifications & Experiences:
- Degree in Computer Science or Engineering fields or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience working in Cloud platform automation and an SRE or DevOps organization.
- Extensive experience in designing, deploying, and managing Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) solutions.
- Proven experience in a lead or senior engineering role focusing on cloud infrastructure.
- Strong background in cloud architecture, DevOps practices, and infrastructure automation.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform).
- Deep understanding of cloud networking, storage, and computing concepts.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Oracle Cloud Monitoring, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Strong project management skills with a track record of successfully leading complex projects.
- Ability to mentor and develop junior engineers and team members.
- Relevant Oracle Cloud certifications (e.g., Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect Professional) are highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Solid communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
