Vice President of Inventory, Replenishment, and Assortment Planning

Job Summary

The Vice President of Inventory, Replenishment, and Assortment Planning is an enterprise leader responsible for leading the end-to-end strategies that optimize inventory management, replenishment processes, and product assortment planning across all sales channels. This role ensures the right products are available in the right quantities and locations to maximize sales, margin, and customer satisfaction while minimizing costs and working capital. The VP drives continuous improvements in forecast accuracy, replenishment efficiency, and assortment optimization through data-driven insights, advanced analytics, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive enterprise strategy for inventory management, replenishment, and assortment planning aligned with business goals and customer needs.
  • Lead the planning and forecasting processes to improve inventory accuracy, reduce stock- outs, and optimize service levels across Wholesale, Commercial, and Retail channels.
  • Oversee replenishment systems and processes to ensure timely, cost-effective, and optimized product flow from suppliers to distribution centers and stores.
  • Drive assortment planning strategies that balance breadth and depth of product selections to maximize sales and profitability while meeting diverse channel requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with Merchandising, Procurement, Sales, and Operations teams to align demand planning, product lifecycle management, and inventory investment strategies.
  • Implement advanced analytics, demand sensing, and forecasting tools to enhance inventory visibility, responsiveness, and agility.
  • Establish governance, metrics, and accountability frameworks to monitor inventory performance, turnover, aging, and associated KPIs.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor high-performing teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Manage budgets and resources efficiently to support enterprise inventory and assortment goals with a focus on working capital optimization.
  • Champion innovation and best practices in inventory and assortment management to sustain competitive advantage and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or related field required; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive leadership experience in inventory management, replenishment, demand forecasting, or assortment planning, preferably in retail, wholesale, or automotive distribution environments.
  • Strong expertise in inventory strategy, demand planning, replenishment systems, and assortment optimization.
  • Proven ability to leverage advanced data analytics, forecasting models, and technology tools to drive operational efficiency and business impact.
  • Experience managing complex multi-channel inventory operations with a focus on balancing service levels, cost, and working capital.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence cross- functional teams and senior executives.
  • Demonstrated track record of developing and leading high-performing teams committed to operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, cost analysis, and capital management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the automotive aftermarket, fast-moving consumer goods, or similar industries.
  • Familiarity with modern replenishment and assortment planning technologies and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or similar supply chain certifications a plus.

Physical Demands / Working Environment

  • Standard office environment with the ability to sit, stand, and operate office equipment.
  • Travel may be required occasionally.
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed during peak business cycles or project demands
