Position Purpose:

Seeking world-class talent to join the world’s leading distributor of automotive and industrial replacement parts and value-added services operating 6,000+ locations and servicing more than 20,000 locations in the U.S and Canada. Specifically, this role will function as the Director of Stores Commerce Technology, developing, leading and supporting one or more engineering teams to delivery next generation Unified Commerce platforms at GPC. Working with a highly talented team, you will play a key role to build and run one of the world’s largest automotive and industrial replacement parts operations.

The Director of Stores Commerce Technology is a deep engineering expert in building and supporting distributed applications and operations at scale. The ideal candidate is a thought leader around what is possible between customers, business, and technology. As the Director of Stores Commerce Technology, you will advance and support one or more teams responsible for the design, development, and implementation of modernizing legacy Store Commerce systems with a focus on continuous incremental business value in an agile environment. This position will work to foster an environment that promotes DevOps philosophies that enable efficient software deployments, high quality software, and empowers teams to do their best. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical aptitude in leading application engineering, development and operations with a proven track record of modernizing distributed applications and technologies at scale.

The individual will work with senior leadership and other engineering and business leaders in a thought leadership role driving technology roadmaps and delivering solutions for Stores Technology. Close collaboration and alignment with infrastructure, network, application development teams and security will be required. As such, exceptional abilities in building and maintaining strong working relationships and organizational savvy will be required. High level communication and presentation skills are required. Ability to attract, retain, and develop engineering talent will be critical.

Responsibilities:

· Lead and manage a large, diverse team of employees and contractors, including both onshore and offshore resources, fostering a high-performance engineering culture.

· Oversee engineering and delivery for our current Store Systems that supports POS and back office operations across 6,000+ stores.

· Provide oversight on any MSA (Managed Services Agreement) to ensure level of service, quality and other obligations per contractual agreements, monitor key performance metrics, hold accountability and identify opportunities for continuous improvements.

· Drive planning, development and delivery of modernizing legacy Store Commerce systems ensuring robust testing, reliability, and performance.

· Collaborate cross-functionally with distributed Engineering teams, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Business Operations, Stakeholders, Product Management, User Research and Design to deliver end-to-end capabilities.

· Present and communicate technology strategies, status, and outcomes clearly and effectively with business stakeholders and leaders.

· Responsible for simplifying the complexity of current IT platforms and reducing the technical debt and total cost of ownership

· Recruit, manage, and motivate team members to develop best-in-class solutions

· Responsible for Capex and Opex budget planning during annual budgeting cycles. Also responsible for managing the spend within allocated budget.

Location:

· GPC has two work locations to choose from, Duluth or Atlanta office.

· We offer a Flexible Work Policy that permits eligible employees to work a hybrid remote schedule.

Desired Qualifications & Experiences:

· The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job

· 12 (15+ preferred) years’ experience in software engineering & technology leadership (including 10+ years in modern applications development)

· Experience managing 50+ FTE team of internal and extended delivery resources

· Proficiency in delivering systems and applications to support business operations at scale, within Stores or similar applicable business areas across distributed physical locations such as warehouses, distribution centers, logistics etc.

· Experience developing on cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, and/or Azure

· Consistent track record of leadership, teamwork, and delivering high impact results

· Mastery of working as an engineering leader in a modern software development-based enterprise environment and overseeing multiple products/platforms

· Mastery of working in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift on a regular basis

· Mastery in communicating with and influencing functional and technical team members at all levels in the organization

· Mastery of modern software development methodologies

· Ability to attract, motivate and retain world-class IT talent

· Strong fiscal prudence to maximize technology investments against critical business priorities across the enterprise
