Job Summary

The NAPA Auto Parts Private Fleet is seeking a motivated individual with a desire to start a career in the fast paced, rewarding transportation management business. Any individual interested in this position must thrive in a fast-paced environment under deadline pressures and forward thinking highly motivated manager. Excellent verbal and written skills are necessary as well as the ability to work with other locations to accomplish specific goals. This person must be a proven leader and possess the ability to think on their feet and make sound decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Complete oversight of Terminal Operations
  • Terminal P & L
  • Monitoring budget and operational metrics while diagnosing and improving processes and procedures to improve performance and profitability.
  • Oversight of driver and dispatch personnel
  • Responsible for general staff training and development
  • Qualification, hiring, training and retention of drivers.
  • Compliance with all regulatory requirements and any associated reporting
  • Growth of the operation while still maintaining superior service to existing customers
  • Driver and office personnel payroll submission
  • Responsible for all building Safety, Loss Prevention, Compliance, and Audits.
  • Responsible for facility maintenance and upkeep of the building.
  • Ensure effective communication and teamwork across the entire business.
  • Develop leaders to be capable of coaching, counseling, and motivating associates to attain optimum safety standards, customer service, productivity levels, and associate engagement.
  • Establishes sound process improvement initiatives that drive year over year improvement in order to meet or exceed customer service levels and on time deliveries.
  • Collaborate/Partner with Operational Leaders and senior leadership to drive standardized processes, business goals, performance, and safety while sharing ideas and support for one another.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations and the ability to operate in compliance with these regulations as well as within company guidelines.
  • Solid Managerial experience in the Transportation industry, a background LTL truckload is a plus.
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Ability to analyze daily operational metrics to monitor operational efficiency, equipment utilization, performance, and profitability.
  • The ability to motivate and lead both the drivers and Cross-dock personnel to meet and exceed the customers’ expectations and the goals of the company.
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to manage, reward and discipline all employees equitably.
  • Adept at problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • Multi-tasking is necessary.
  • Excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Office, McLeod, Workday experience is a plus.

Physical Demands / Working Environment

  • Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry objects of varying weights, typically 25 to 50 pounds or more, depending on the job duties.
  • Pushing and Pulling: Capability to push and pull carts, pallet jacks, or other equipment loaded with materials throughout the warehouse. This may involve pushing or pulling heavy loads over extended distances or up ramps.
  • Standing and Walking: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, often for the duration of a shift. Warehouse employees need to be able to move around the warehouse facility to pick orders, stock shelves, or perform other tasks.
  • Bending and Stooping: Capacity to bend, stoop, squat, and reach to retrieve items from shelves, bins, or storage racks. Employees need the ability to access items throughout the warehouse at various heights and angles.
  • Climbing: Can climb ladders or stairs to access elevated storage areas or perform maintenance tasks. Warehouse employees need to have the capacity to work at heights to include open floor mezzanines and follow safety protocols for ladder use.
  • Operating Equipment: Proficiency in operating warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and order pickers. Depending on the job role, employees must pass certification or training programs to operate certain equipment safely.
  • Manual Dexterity: Ability to use hands and fingers to handle small objects, operate machinery controls, and perform tasks requiring precision and accuracy. This may include picking and packing items, labeling products, or assembling shipments.
  • Repetitive Motion: Ability to perform repetitive tasks, such as scanning barcodes, sorting items, or packaging products, throughout the shift. Employees should be able to maintain productivity while performing repetitive motions safely.
  • Physical Endurance: Stamina and endurance to work in a fast-paced environment and meet productivity targets. Warehouse employees need to have the capacity to work long hours, weekends, or overtime during peak periods.
  • Safety Awareness: Commitment to following safety protocols and guidelines to prevent workplace accidents and injuries. Employees should be vigilant about potential hazards in the warehouse environment and take appropriate precautions to ensure their safety and the safety of others.
