Software Engineer III
SUMMARY:
Under limited supervision, the Software Engineer III develops information systems by designing, developing, and installing increasingly complex software solutions, and testing This position improves operations by conducting systems analysis and recommending changes in policies and procedures with limited supervision. Software developer III begins to have more influence on more junior developers.

JOB DUTIES:
• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise B2B/EDI integrations between ERP systems, trading partners, customers, suppliers, and internal applications using IBM Sterling B2B Integrator (B2Bi), Gentran, CLEO, and related middleware.
• Build and support interfaces between ERP systems, legacy applications, external partners, and enterprise integration platforms.
• Develop and maintain EDI maps, BPML business processes, routing logic, data transformations, and communication configurations supporting OTC, P2P, and QTC business processes.
• Develop and support EDI/X12, EDIFACT, XML, JSON, flat-file, and API-based integrations, including transaction sets such as 850, 855, 856, 810, 860, 820, 824, 846, and 997.
• Configure and maintain trading partner connectivity using AS2, SFTP, FTP/S, APIs, VANs, and other B2B communication protocols.
• Provide production support by troubleshooting and resolving integration, mapping, routing, communication, translation, database, and ERP-related issues.
• Perform root cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and improve application reliability, performance, and scalability.
• Collaborate with ERP teams and business stakeholders to define requirements, analyze data flows, and deliver enterprise integration solutions.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, mapping specifications, process flows, support procedures, and issue records.
• Ensure compliance with development standards, security requirements, change management processes, and integration best practices.
• Participate in trading partner onboarding, testing, certification, and production deployments.
• Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, platform modernization initiatives, and operational efficiencies.
• Mentor junior developers when needed and represent IT on integration and enterprise modernization projects.
• Perform other assigned duties.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, plus 5–8 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience developing and supporting enterprise B2B/EDI integrations.
• Experience with IBM Sterling B2B Integrator (B2Bi), Gentran, CLEO, EDI mapping, BPML development, and trading partner onboarding.
• Experience integrating ERP platforms such as Epicor, SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, or similar systems.
• Experience supporting OTC, P2P, and QTC business processes.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Strong knowledge of IBM Sterling B2B Integrator (B2Bi), EDI/X12 standards, enterprise integration architectures, and business process development.
• Strong understanding of OTC, P2P, and QTC business processes and related EDI transaction flows.
• Proficiency with AS2, SFTP, FTP/S, APIs, VAN connectivity, SQL, database troubleshooting, and Linux/UNIX environments.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex integration, communication, mapping, and ERP-related issues across distributed systems.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and support critical business operations.
• Effective communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Knowledge of enterprise integration trends, API-driven architectures, modernization strategies, and emerging B2B technologies.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong customer service focus with a commitment to delivering reliable and scalable integration solutions.
