Job Summary

The Retail Senior Safety Manager plays a vital role in maintaining safety in our retail stores. Under the direction of the Headquarters Director of Safety, this position will implement and oversee all aspects of the company safety programs for our Retail stores across the business. These programs aim to prevent incidents and injuries. The Retail Safety Senior Manager will work closely with other Sales and Store Operation departments to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of corporate-wide safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, company standards, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Provide direct leadership, coaching, and guidance to distribution center leaders and Asset protection managers to ensure consistent safety execution across all assigned locations.
  • Conduct regular facility audits, safety inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards, evaluate controls, and drive timely corrective actions.
  • Partner with DC leadership teams to address safety concerns, improve safety performance, reduce incidents, and strengthen frontline accountability.
  • Lead incident, accident, and near-miss investigations to determine root causes and implement sustainable preventive actions that reduce recurrence.
  • Deliver safety training and leadership education for DC leadership, and managers to improve awareness, compliance, and safe work practices.
  • Maintain accurate Supply Chain safety records, including incident reports, inspection findings, training documentation, and compliance activity records.
  • Serve as Supply Chain point of contact for regulatory agency interactions, inspections, and safety-related audits.
  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory updates, and best practices to recommend continuous improvement opportunities across the division.
  • Influence change at the corporate level by building strong partnerships with operations, safety, HR, asset protection, and site leadership teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in safety management, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role overseeing multiple sites.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with site management teams and influence change at the divisional level.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful safety programs across multiple locations.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Commitment to upholding high standards of integrity and professionalism, with a focus on supporting our team members and delivering for our customers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation preferred.

Physical Demands / Working Environment

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to work in a retail environment with exposure to various weather conditions.
  • Ability to travel at least 50% of the time.
