Position Purpose:

Seeking world-class talent to join the world’s leading distributor of automotive and industrial replacement parts and value-added services operating 5,500+ locations and servicing more than 20,000 locations in the U.S and Canada. Specifically, this role will function as the Senior Manager of BI & Analytics in the Enterprise Data & Analytics (EDA) group with responsibility for leading a team of data analysts that deliver innovative solutions with a focus on organizational agility and a commitment to speed to market/value.

This role provides a unique opportunity for a senior analytics leader to strategize, architect, govern, and lead Genuine Parts Company as a Senior Manager in this space to enable and mature the organization's ability to make data-driven decisions using advanced BI and analytics technologies.

The key areas of focus for this role include building analytics capabilities, creating strategic roadmaps for analytics with business stakeholders and pods in the EDA group, partnering with the BI engineering team to deliver solutions using a bimodal model, and driving self-service capabilities to enable real-time information and predictive insights at scale across the organization by leveraging technology paved paths, reference architecture, design patterns, and industry best practices.

This individual must be a technologist & analytics engineer at heart and be comfortable enabling new technology and being hands-on with the execution of the strategy. In addition, they must exhibit a deep understanding of industry technology trends and the ability to stay current with the competitive landscape, modern technology stacks, and agile delivery models with a demonstrated focus on customer experience.

This individual will partner with senior leadership, team members in the EDA group, business stakeholders, and domain teams in technology by providing thought leadership to support technology roadmaps and delivery commitments. In addition, they will be responsible for cultivating a data-driven culture by elevating our maturity in analytics, partnering with the BI team to create a centralized reporting & insights platform, and enabling decision making to drive growth, optimize operations, and improve customer experience. As such, exceptional abilities in building and maintaining strong working relationships and organizational savvy will be required. Demonstrated experience explaining complex concepts with insightful narratives to executive leaders and excellent presentation skills are also required.

Position Responsibilities:

25% - Team and Talent:

  • Develop and onboard technical talent per plan
  • Achieve target balance of internal/external resources
  • Build and maintain bench strength for all Lead analysts & above
  • Partner with peers, leaders, and other domain experts to evangelize and drive thought leadership, promote innovation, and encourage collaboration across teams
  • Lead through connected conversations to create a wide sphere of influence
  • Link teams across the organization who are facing similar challenges to enable consistent solutions
  • Coach, mentor, grow, and advise other domain experts and engineers in the organization

25% - Strategy & Planning:

  • Work with the wider organization and stakeholders to execute the technology vision for BI & Analytics platforms to enable initiatives, strategic projects, and other delivery commitments
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and data evangelist to facilitate the alignment of analytics across the organization and best practice uses of BI & Analytics platforms and enterprise data assets
  • Stay in front of technology and evaluate new tools & technologies, weigh trade-ups, options, build vs buy etc. to drive a common direction of best practices and standards to lead the path for adoption across the enterprise
  • Partner with leaders in the EDA group to build, own, and drive the delivery roadmap for the analytics pods based on business priorities and strategy
  • Work with architects and engineering leaders in the EDA group to define, publish, implement, and promote architectural guidelines/standards, design patterns, key processes, governing mechanisms, and controls for analytics solutions
  • Communicate key information to stakeholders to drive the formalization and adoption of standards and procedures

50% - Delivery & Execution:

  • Lead a team of data analysts to drive the end-to-end execution of the delivery process for analytics solutions spanning disciplines including AI/ML, business intelligence, data engineering/modeling, and GIS/geospatial
  • Partner with leaders in BI engineering and Data engineering to optimize and execute a bimodal delivery model that uses a combination of engineering and ad hoc methods to accelerate delivery and value creation/capture
  • Review business context for solutions to company challenges as well as lead the process of defining the vision and requirements for solutions, recommending potential options, selecting the optimal solution, and developing a delivery roadmap
  • Provide oversight to ensure analytics team uses standards and best practices with a focus on innovation and speed to market/value while focusing on quality, timeliness, continuous improvement, cost optimization, and compliance with company data and software policies/procedures
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, product management teams, and technical SME's to define KPI's/metrics based on source systems, datasets, business rules, logic, and custom calculations
  • Partner with EDA group to define metadata, build catalogs (data and BI/reporting), develop a business glossary, and create data governance rules
  • Other duties as assigned

Location:

  • GPC has three work locations to choose from: Duluth or Atlanta, GA, and Dallas, TX
  • We offer a Flexible Work Policy that permits eligible employees to work a hybrid remote schedule.

Desired Qualifications & Experiences:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business, or four-year related degree, and/or equivalent work-related experience. MS or MBA degree preferred.
  • 10 years of experience (12+ preferred) managing high performing analytics team and leading the design, development, and delivery of innovative analytics solutions using various technology stacks and analytics platforms (Power BI experience is a plus)
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Strong problem-solving, project management, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and time spent outside of comfort zone acquiring new skills
  • Technically creative and open-minded
  • Expert knowledge of BI and capabilities
  • Strong knowledge of AI/ML tools, capabilities, models, and operations
  • Strong knowledge of data management tools and core concepts related to data modeling (logical/physical; relational/dimensional) and data warehousing
  • Experience delivering analytics solutions using Agile and DevSecOps methodologies
  • Expert knowledge of SQL and strong knowledge of programming languages common in AI/ML (Python, R)
  • Highly self-motivated with a strong work ethic
