Job Description

Position Purpose:

This role will function as the Senior Engineer in the Enterprise Data & Analytics (EDA) team with responsibility as the Site Reliability Engineer of the next generation business intelligence (BI) platforms at GPC. Working with a highly talented team, you'll play a key role to build and run one of the world’s largest automotive and industrial replacement parts operations. 

This is a senior SRE role with responsibility for enabling cloud transformation and managing GPC’s unified business intelligence (BI) platform. She/he must exhibit a deep understanding of modern BI technology stacks and demonstrated focus on customer experience.

Close collaboration and alignment with the data engineering team, business functions, application development teams, and cyber security group will be required.  As such, exceptional abilities in building and maintaining strong working relationships and organizational savvy will be required. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Run the production environment by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of BI platform health.
  • Understanding the high-level architecture of infrastructure, underlying components, and Data platforms
  • Improve reliability, quality, and time-to-market of our next generation analytics solutions built on Power BI
  • Measure and optimize system performance, with an eye toward pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with the platform teams (Data + BI) to implement design patterns that ensure solutions meet operational requirements, such as availability, scalability, reliability, extensibility, manageability, and security.
  • Communicate and interact with business and technical stakeholders to solve complex data related problems (business + technical)
  • Strong understanding of the data assets, reporting solutions, and analytics capabilities to provide appropriate support.
  • Provide guidance to BI user community on best practices and finding optimal solutions, who are facing similar challenges to enable consistent solutions
  • Build and drive the BI Platform standards, capabilities, cost, capacity optimization strategies, tenant level configuration, and tooling (native and external) for the BI platform
  • Partner with development teams to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures.
  • Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning
  • Provide mentorship to team members, domain teams, and business stakeholders on available data assets, reporting solutions, and analytics capabilities
  • Coordinate/manage technology integrations between various system and application teams
  • Other duties assigned

Location:

  • GPC has two work locations to choose from, Duluth or Atlanta office.
  • We offer a Flexible Work Policy that permits eligible employees to work a hybrid remote schedule.

Desired Qualifications & Experiences:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS, Business, or related degree, and/or equivalent experience. MS degree preferred.
  • 2 years’ (8 preferred) experience in developing and implementing BI solutions using various technology stacks and BI platforms
  • Expertise in Power BI administration, Fabric Platform capabilities, features/functionality, development best practices, deployment strategies, and operations/support is required
  • Strong knowledge of Agile and DevOps methodologies
  • Strong problem-solving skills, project management skills, and organizational skills
  • Highly self-motivated with a strong work ethic
  • Expert knowledge of SQL, knowledge in Python or a similar programming language
  • Experience in Public cloud environments (Azure, GCP)
