Position Purpose:

Seeking world-class talent to join the world’s leading distributor of automotive and industrial replacement parts and value-added services operating 5,500+ locations and servicing more than 20,000 locations in the U.S and Canada.

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Systems designer to drive the development and maintenance of our design systems. The ideal candidate will have strong UX and UI skills and be able to lead the development of our design language, design principles, and design patterns. The successful candidate should be passionate about design and have a strong understanding of the principles of design systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and maintenance of our design systems, including design language, design principles, and design patterns.
  • Ensure that the design systems are scalable, flexible, and easy to use.
  • Collaborate with designers, developers, and product managers to ensure that the design systems are implemented consistently and effectively.
  • Measure the consistency of application.
  • Maintain and improve a contribution model to streamline the process of multiple autonomous product teams building components for one-off use cases, moving to systematized items.
  • Identify, prioritize, and monitor task, progress of design, development, and documentation across team members.
  • Present the system’s mission, library, and process to other groups, including product managers, content specialists, QA, and other design and development teams throughout the enterprise.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to developers working on design system related issues.
  • Develop and deliver training and support to teams to ensure that the design systems are implemented correctly.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for the design systems.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest developments in design systems.
  • Conduct user research and usability testing to understand the efficacy of the design system components.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Location:

  • GPC has two work locations to choose from, Duluth or Atlanta office.
  • We offer a Flexible Work Policy that permits eligible employees to work remotely

Desired Qualifications & Experiences: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, HCI, or related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in UX/UI design.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience building, managing, and contributing to design systems.
  • Strong understanding of design principles and design systems.
  • Strong technical understanding of design systems from a software development perspective, especially with Angular JS.
  • Experience in conducting user research and usability testing.
  • Experience in delivering training and support to teams.
  • Proven record in building a design system from scratch.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with designers, developers, and project managers.
  • Passionate about design and user experience.
